Our story...

It was in June of 1999, WE were appointed Ford’s importer-dealer in Brunei.

Nihar Patel, then regional sales & marketing director for Ford’s Asia-Pacific Direct Markets, represented Ford Motor Company at the official inauguration ceremony.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah was the guest of honour at Premier Automobiles’s dedication event which was hosted by the company’s owners and managers at the time, Teng Ching Ying, Hassan Mohamed Yusof, Teng Chee Khiong and Frankie Ho.

Currently employing more than 70 employees includes over 1700 square meters under roof, incorporating a 600 square meter sales showroom. A parts and service department also is included and, as a commitment to continuous improvement in the customer service experience, Premier has introduced a 24 hour breakdown service and a home service. Premier Automobile’s chairman, Mr. Teng Ching Ying’s current automotive franchises collectively account for a large portion of the Brunei industry.

Mr. Hassan Mohamed Yusof, director at the time, said Premier Motor Company’s goal is to generate the best sales and service satisfaction among all auto brands represented in the market. "We will grow the Ford presence by offering the highest customer satisfaction in the business," he said. Mr. Frankie Ho, the then executive director of Premier Motor Company has extensive marketing and operational experience in the automotive industry. He has been the general manager of Grand Motors, Mazda’s official dealer in Brunei for over ten years.

Mr. Teng Chee Khiong, managing director of Premier and TCY Motors has 25 years experience in the automotive industry.

At the ceremony, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah mentioned Premier Motor Company’s support of the 20th Southeast Asian Games where 60 Ford Transit buses were provided to transport athletes during the August games. Ford’s initial product range includes models from around the world. Ka, Escort, Focus, Mondeo, Galaxy, Fiesta Courier, Fiesta Van and Transit are being imported from Europe, Festiva, Laser, Ranger and Trader from Asia and Falcon from Australia.

The Ford brand remains strong as the only non Japanese vehicle make in Brunei’s automotive top-10 sales dominated by mainly Japanese and Korean car makers. Premier Automobile’s chairman, Mr. Teng Ching Ying’s current automotive franchises collectively account for a large portion of the Brunei industry.
