Flag off for FORD 4x4 Ba'kalalan trip- 24th March 2010'

The Ford 4x4 Adventure Trip to Bekalalan, Sarawak, organised by the Ford dealer in Brunei, Premier Automobiles Sdn Bhd, was flagged off yesterday by the Brunei-Muara District Officer, Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yussop Bakar, at the dealer's showroom in Beribi.

Yesterday's flag-off ceremony saw a convoy of 18 Ford Rangers, two of which are from Premier Automobiles, carry a total of over 40 participants, who will all be going on an adventure that promises to give them good off-road experiences.

Before the flag-off event, Chief of the Ford 4x4 Adventure Trip, Hj Khairul Hj Yaakub, made welcoming remarks followed by a brief address from the Premier Sales Manager Teng Chee How, who is also leading the Premier team.

Meanwhile, in his brief speech, the guest of honour applauded the dealer's initiative in conducting such an activity that is seen as beneficial, while also reminding the convoys to take extra precautions while on the trip, particularly on the roads.

Serving as part of the line-up of activities for its 4x4 vehicles, Chee How noted that it is also a charity initiative.

In Ba'kelalan, which is a remote area in the Sarawak state, the convoy will also be donating some clothes to the people.

He further noted that it also serves to give their 4x4 customers hands-on experience in driving off-road, as Ba'kelalan is known to be the toughest off-road in Borneo. Thus, it would also enable them to test the Ranger's capability and durability, apart from strengthening ties between the dealer and customers.

The convoy left early yesterday morning from the Limau Manis police station, driving past the Kuala Lurah checkpoint down to Limbang and Temburong, before entering Lawas where, after a short break, the convoy would continue their journey onto Merarap and head to their destination, Ba'kelalan.

Tomorrow, the convoy will leave for Merarap and stay overnight there. They would also take part in some jungle trekking the following morning, before returning to Brunei.
